New Deal or Raw Deal?
With the Obama stimulus out-liberals keep pointing at the so-called "success" of the new deal…
What the New Deal gave America was relief, but it did not solve the problem, it only prolonged it. It also left America with more debt. When FDR took office in 1933 (Year New Deal was passed.) unemployment was over 24%. In 1935 (Year second New Deal was passed) unemployment was at 18%. In 1939, it was 17.2%. In 1943(During the War) it was 1.9%. In 1940 (before the War), unemployment was still over 17%. That doesn’t really seem to me like something that worked really well. World War II on the other hand did get us out of the Depression. It made unemployment go away and it awakened the industrial might of America. The New Deal did not. All the New Deal left us with was higher debt and a larger government…
I think FDR’s own staff members can summarize how badly the New Deal failed, like what Henry Morgenthau, Secretary of Treasury for FDR, said once. He said -
“We have tried spending money. We are spending more than we have ever spent before and it does not work. And I have just one interest, and now if I am wrong somebody else can have my job. I want to see this country prosper. I want to see people get a job. I want to see people get enough to eat. We have never made good on our promises. I say after eight years of this administration, we have just as much unemployment as when we started. And enormous debt to boot.”
That came from FDR’s own staff member! The numbers don’t lie either. Redistribution of wealth, which is what a stimulus does, does not create wealth or jobs! It only changes who has the money… I know a good website which could explain how the New Deal failed, step by step. If you go to http://www.academia.org/campus_reports/2… and read all of it, you’ll see how it failed. I just hope my little summary of what happened helped you see how this damn Raw Deal failed…
So why do they point to this-when IRS reports, census reports, and even FDR's own staff members say how bad a failure it was. How about the failure of the Bush stimulus which did not create any jobs? Why do liberals believe it will work, when it has always failed in the past?
A good book to read about this topic is "New Deal or Raw Deal?: How FDR's Economic Legacy Has Damaged America." if you want to buy it just go to http://www.amazon.com/New-Deal-Raw-Econo… or any other book store… I'd encourgae you to read the Amazon customer reviews about the book…

Obama's stimulus package was "necessary" to keep unemployment from ever touching 8%.
We are now at 9.4% unemployment. I'm so glad that worked like it was planned.

I ran a ltd co. in the UK and have returned to Aust. What happens if I ignore my corporation tax debt?
I know I should pay it but the debt is in pounds & I have no way of paying it back. The truth of the matter is I spent the money I had aside for tax while business was bad and then I moved home, closed all bank accounts and am just hoping I wont personally get chased for it.
Unless some politician wants to up grade their car, I wouldn't worry about it.

need credit card debt advise?
I only have one card, the balance is now up to 5000.00
(5 thousand dollars), I pay about 150.00 a month.
Should I stay with this, or can I get another card, and transfer some of the balance? Would this reduce my monthly payments, or no?
There is a great place to go with this. I was in a very similar situation.
This is getting help from real people without the use of banks or credit card companies. Good Luck!

I have never asked a more serious question….please read and advise! (debt collection false accusation)?
My boyfriend is currently in the process of buying a house. His credit score used to be great (upper 700s) but the lender just called him to let him know that His credit score dropped because Verizon Fios put a complaint on him for not paying for the rental equipment. This property is very competitively price and he was planning on putting the offer in tomorrow. He said that he did get a letter from FIOS a few months ago but he checked a box saying that he disagrees with the complaint and that he had not heard anything since then. Do we contact Verizon Fios directly? He thinks we have to go through the debt collection agency but that could take so long. The rental equipment was turned in sometime around October of 2008 (in case that is important).
He has evidence to prove that he canceled the account properly but he didn't keep anything from the day he actually returned the equipment. But I was there with him so I know it was returned.
Please give us some advice on how we can handle this quickly. This couldn't have happened at a worse time. Any honest advice would be very much appreciated and in the meantime I will try and surf around to find a number to call.
THANK YOU.
First, you need to talk to a real person at Verizon. Getting a receipt for returning equipment is vital. I returned a phone to US Cellular, and they lost the phone.
You might ask Verizon to fully identify the missing equipment, model numbers, and serial numbers. If the phone was still active when you turned it in, it will leave a trace. Verizon can check and find out where the phone was last active. If the location is close to their store, you have a case.
You might return to the store, that you returned your equipment too, and see if any one there recognizes you. Often old phones are just chucked into a drawer, and not inventoried. Sometimes, if you explain your situation, a store employee may issue a duplicate receipt.
In some cases, you might just go ahead and pay the bill, to clear the report.
You protest the report on his credit report. But some companies will continue to report bad information. Discover card added a dople ganger (a person with a close social security number) to my wife's credit report just before we were to close on a house. The closure was delayed a few days while the bank sorted it out, and ignored the false information. The next year, Discover card had put the bad information back on the report. It took years and a full manual override from the credit bureau to get rid of the bad information. A manual override means talking to a real person at the credit bureau.

I am trying to find out if My Business tax debt is put on any kind of Cred Rep in Australia?
I have a tax bill due end of March. It has already been lodged. I am currently going for a home loan, I am planning on making arrangements with the Aust Tax Office after my home loan is approved. and need to now if this will show up on any Credit Report or anywhere else before its official due date.
If it is due end of March - the ATO will not be chasing you until then. It's not due until then. We are still in January now?! It will not be shown in any credit report for a while.
£40k is indeed a serious debt, but and IVA is a serious step too, only a short hop from bankruptcy. The preferred option for dealing with debts is always to see if you can negotiate with your creditors to agree new terms for paying back all or part of your debts in a way that you can actually afford. Doing this yourself is not a million miles from what happens with an IVA, but this way you do not have to pay hefty fees to the Insolvency Practitioner.
Have a look at the step by step guide on http://www.debtassistancesite.com and see if you think it is something that might be appropriate for you.
Good luck!
I had to buy a second home for my sister under my name because she did not qualify for a mortgage at the time. My sister is considering a deed in lieu for her house that is under my name. I understand the mortgage forgiveness debt relief act only applies to primary homes (I am also foreclosing on my primary house). Will there be tax consequences that I will have to pay for on my second home? or can I explain to the IRS that the house was technically not mine. The title is under both our names but only the mortgage is under my name.
I don't think second home qualify under mortgage forgiveness debt relief. Not under this provision. Only canceled debt used to buy, build or improve your principal residence or refinance debt incurred for those purposes qualifies for this exclusion.
For a debate so please answer yes/no. And please no swearing. Answers greatly appreciated!!!!
NO, Obama is making America a Third World Country!
Wake Up America!
Freedom isn't Free, a lot of people in over 200 years have fought and died for that Freedom to have it recklessly voted away in an election by uniformed voters.
The support and election of Barack Hussein Obama desecrates the graves of those Americans who fought and died for that Freedom.
Comrade Obama has a dream for a Post American World.
Comrade Barack Hussein Obama said in his book 'Audacity of Hope', “I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction what better place for the Muslins to control our country, than in the office of the President of USA.”
A person can’t truly love America and Obama too, for to truly love one is to truly hate the other.
May God protect the American People and the Free World from the Democrat Party and Barack Hussein Obama.
May God enlighten Barack Hussein Obama’s misguided followers and let the see the real evil truth about Barack Hussein Obama.

I filed a chapter 13 in July 2002 and completed my 5 years of repayments in July 2007 and the case was discharged. I immediately got a bill from the state saying I still owe $900 in interest and penalties from tax year 2000. Do I really owe this? Are all of my other debts wiped away now?
Bankruptcy does not wipe out tax obligations!
